Firmware Update Instructions
This upgrade step is only for users whose WiFi device name is “direct-XX”. If the user does not have this name, please ignore this information and upgrade according to the steps in the manual.
Pre-Configuration:
1.Plug the adapter into a USB port to keep it powered on.
2.Go to Settings and enable Wi-Fi.
Forget both “smartBox-XXXX” and “DIRECT-XXXX” from your phone’s Wi-Fi list. (❗Important)
Then, go to Bluetooth settings and enable Bluetooth.
Forget the previously paired device named “smartBox-XXXX” from your phone’s Bluetooth list. (❗Important)
3.Turn off Bluetooth on your phone.
Start Configuration:
-
From the main Settings page, simply type “Wi-Fi Direct” or “Direct” into the search bar at the top to quickly locate the Wi-Fi Direct feature, then connect to smartBox-XXXX.
-
Open your phone’s browser and enter the IP address: 192.168.1.101, then go to the settings page.
Tip: If the IP settings page still doesn’t load, try refreshing the page or switching to a different browser.
-
1. Scroll to the bottom of the settings page and tap “Update” to install the latest firmware.
Tip: During the update process, please be patient and avoid closing this page.
Post-Configuration:
1. Forget the Adapter: Go to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings. Forget the smartBox signal in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
❗ Note: This step is crucial.
2. Unplug the adapter: Disconnect it from the port.
3. Restart both devices: Restart your phone and car.
4. Reconnect both devices.
① Plug the adapter back into the car’s USB data port (please ensure it’s a data port, not just a charging port or USB Hub—the same port you use for wired Android Auto connection).
② Turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on your phone. (❗ Important)
③ Select smartBox-XXXX for pairing in the Bluetooth settings of your phone.
💡Tip: Just manually pair Bluetooth, no need to manually pair WiFi. ❗
After a successful Bluetooth pairing, the connection will automatically disconnect, which is normal.
Please don’t worry—just wait patiently for about 10-15 seconds without touching the phone screen, and avoid repeatedly reconnecting the Bluetooth.
④ Wait for your phone to automatically disconnect from the Bluetooth connection with “smartBox-XXXX” and switch to the adapter’s Wi-Fi connection (names like smartBox-XXXX).
💡Tip: If you see a prompt like the one shown in the image below after connecting to the adapter’s Wi-Fi, please select “Switch to mobile” to ensure a smooth connection.
